Costco Cherry and Cheese Pastry (Calories + Review)

The Costco Cherry and Cheese Pastry comes in a six pack and is found in the bakery section.  The pastry is Item Number 1655334 and costs $9.99.

The pastry features a buttery, flaky crust that has been brushed with an apricot glaze.  The crust surrounds a filling made with cherries, cream cheese and Greek yogurt.  The pastry is fully cooked and ready to eat although many people prefer to heat the pastry before eating.

Heating and Serving Suggestions

These pastries can be eaten straight from the plastic clamshell tray but are so much better when warmed through.

I like to heat them for 5 minutes at 37F in my air fryer.  Five minutes is long enough to warm the center but not so long that the pastry gets burnt.

I do not recommend heating these in a microwave as that makes the flaky, buttery crust become limp and soggy.

You cold also use a toaster oven to heat the pastry but I do not have one so I can’t provide exact time and temperatures.

As far as serving ideas there is absolutely nothing wrong with eating these with a strong cup of coffee and calling it a day.  Omg eat those with a cup of strong coffee!

If you want to get super fancy then serve the cherry and cheese pastry as a dessert with a side of Costco’s super premium vanilla ice cream!

Taste

The pastries are sweet, crunchy and buttery and I think that is a lovely combination!

Even though the cherries are sweet they have a nice balance of tartness that nicely balances things out.  The cream cheese also cuts the sweetness slightly and adds a touch of richness.

The cream cheese is a flavor bridge that marries the richness of the pastry with the sweetness of the cherries.  That is a cool culinary trick that I am going to remember!

Positive and Negatives

My family really enjoys the cherry and cheese pastries but I realize that they will not be right for everyone.  Let’s take a quick look at the pros and cons of these treats.

Pros

  • Delicious cherry filling
  • Flaky butter pastry
  • Tasty hot or cold
  • Very filling

Cons

  • Too sweet for some people
  • No preservatives so they will get mold if not eaten in a few days
  • High in calories
