The Costco chicken pot pie is one of our family’s favorite Costco meals. The pie is creamy, full of white meat chicken and loaded with veggies. My wife LOVES the crust and I LOVE the filling so we make quite a team when we tear into this feast.
Our kids also enjoy the pot pie so it is one of the few meals we have where nobody feels like they had to compromise.
In this review, we’ll cover everything you need to know about Costco’s chicken pot pies, including baking instructions, nutritional information, pricing, and more.
Cooking Instructions
One of the best things about Costco chicken pot pies is how easy they are to prepare. Simply preheat your oven to 375°F, place the frozen pot pie on a baking sheet, and bake for 1 hour and 45 minutes.
Check on the pie periodically, as ovens may vary in temperature.
How to Check When Your Pot Pie is Done
To ensure your pot pie is fully cooked, check the internal temperature using a meat thermometer. The middle of a fully cooked pot pie should reach a minimum safe internal temperature of 165°F
Go ahead and check the pie in a couple places to make sure it is heated all the way through.
Covering the Edges of Your Pot Pie
I usually don’t cover the edge of the pie with foil because it is a clumsy task for my big hands. I typically just keep an eye on things while the pie is baking and if it looks like the edges are browning too fast then I will put the foil on.
Now, if you want to make sure that the bottom of the crust doesn’t get soggy then you ought to foil the edges and bake the pie at a little higher temperature around 400F.
Cutting the Chicken Pot Pie
To cut the pot pie, use a sharp knife and slice it into 8 wedges. The first slice may be a bit messy, but it will taste just as good as the others.
For neater slices, chill the cooked pot pie, slice it, and then reheat the slices. But who has time for that hassle?
For families that are hungry and don’t give a dang about pretty slices just grab a massive spoon and dig in!
Freezing
For the best results when freezing the pot pie, bake it first, slice it into individual portions, and pack the portions into the freezer in microwave-safe airtight containers.
This will make it easy to reheat your frozen pot pie later.
Taste
The Kirkland Signature chicken pot pie is a classic and tastes way better than anything Marie Calendar ever made.
The pie filling is made with chunks of tender chicken, peas, carrots, and potatoes, all in a creamy, savory sauce. It’s also has a flaky, buttery crust that’s delicious.
The meal is hearty, filling and highly satisfying.
Overall I think that the pot pie is highly balanced which is a pretty neat trick considering how many flavors and textures are at play.

Price
The pot pie, Item Number 16382, currently costs $4.99 per pound. Since each pot pie weighs a little over five pounds you should expect to pay around $25 for the meal.

This pie is so convenient and affordable that I don’t even consider making one from scratch. Seriously, why would anyone ever make their own when you can buy this beauty?
