I recently had the pleasure of trying the Yakisoba Stir Fry with Seasoned Chicken from Costco, and I must say, it was absolutely delicious! As someone who loves a good weeknight meal that’s quick, easy, and tasty, this stir fry meal kit checked all the boxes.
I highly recommend trying the Stir Fry for a convenient and delicious weeknight meal. It’s an excellent option for those who want something tasty and easy to make without sacrificing quality. I’m already looking forward to having it again!
For those who are unfamiliar, Yakisoba is a Japanese stir fry made with fried noodles, protein, and veggies such as cabbage, onion, bean sprouts, and carrots. The Costco Yakisoba Stir Fry kit includes fresh vegetables like broccoli, snap peas, bell peppers, onion, and carrots, as well as seasoned sous vide chicken, yakisoba noodles, and two containers of yakisoba sauce.
How to Cook The Yakisoba Stir Fry From Costco
The instructions to prepare this meal are straightforward: sauté the fresh vegetables for four minutes, add the chicken, cover and cook on low heat for five minutes, and finally, add the noodles and sauce and sauté everything together for three minutes or until hot.
The chicken and noodles are fully cooked, and the veggies are raw, so you really need to just heat things through and cook until the veggies are tender.
After the meal has cooked add the sauce and toss to coat. Start by using one container of the sauce and give the stir fry a taste. There is a lot of salt in the sauce and some folks will find one container to be perfect and two containers to be too salty.
To make the dish even more delicious, you can add some extra vegetables like edamame, water chestnuts, cabbage, zucchini, cauliflower, bamboo shoots, or bok choy. You can also add some sriracha hot sauce to give it a bit of a kick.
Flavor
One package of this meal kit weighs about 3.5 pounds and is enough to serve four people with leftovers for two. Not only is the meal convenient and easy to make, but it’s also a feast for the eyes and taste buds.
The dark brownish color of the yakisoba noodles is reminiscent of the traditional Japanese dish, and the chicken is so tender and well-seasoned that you’ll swear it was prepared by a professional chef. The fresh vegetables are not only a colorful addition to the dish but also provide a healthy dose of nutrients.
But the best part? The sauce. With just the right balance of saltiness and sweetness, it adds the perfect finishing touch to the dish.
We all loved the stir fry but agreed it could be made even better by adding some mushrooms to give it a little more umami and some sriracha to give it some heat.
Cost
The Kirkland Signature Yakisoba Stir Fry Kit is Item Number 81505 and currently costs $5.99. You get about 3.5 pounds of food per tray so the meal will cost you around $20.
If you assume this will make four large servings then the cost per serving is about $5. On one hand, $5 per serving isn’t exactly cheap but it is a lot less expensive than ordering Chinese take-out. factor in the convenience of the meal and quality of ingredients then this meal is a pretty nice deal.
