Today’s recipe is for the World’s Best Smoked Catfish Dip! This is a simple, no fuss recipe that turns out incredible.
The key to this dip is to start out with a perfectly smoked catfish filet. If you need help with that then here is the link for our Traeger Smoked Catfish Recipe!
Smoked Catfish Dip Ingredients
We used:
- 8 ounces smoked catfish (1 large filet)
- 8 ounces cream cheese (chive and onion flavored)
- 1 tbls minced fresh parsley
- Juice from 1/2 of a small lemon (about 2 tsp)
The smoked catfish was prepared the day ahead and stored cold in the refrigerator. You can spice this up if desired by tossing in some diced pickled jalapenos or adding a tablespoon of Sriracha garlic chili sauce.
We do not use any extra salt, pepper etc as the smoked catfish is already incredibly seasoned and makes up half the dish. Feel free to adjust the seasonings to taste.
Dump everything into a bowl and mix with a fork to break up the smoked catfish. Top with a parsley garnish.
How to Serve the Smoked Catfish Dip
We like to eat the dip with crackers, bagel chips or scooped into some celery.
The layers of flavor are amazing as you start with a creamy brightness from the parsley and lemon juice that subtly transitions to a rich, smoky lushness from the fish.
However, when you realize that this is essentially a big pile of cream cheese it becomes apparent that you can use this dip in so many ways!
- You could stuff the dip into some jalapenos, wrap in bacon and either bake in the oven or cook on your smoker.
- How about as a secret ingredient in Pimento Cheese?
- Use it to replace mayonnaise on sandwiches or in deviled eggs.
- Add to a pasta dish like Stuffed Shells and bake in the oven.
