We bought the Rana Beef and Short Rib Lasagna at Costco and gave it a try for dinner. The product is Item Number 1624490 and is found in the refrigerated coolers by the deli.
Our overall impressions were that the lasagna was okay, but not great. The two biggest issues were:
- The lasagna is a bit too salty.
- There really wasn’t enough food to feed four really hungry people.
I don’t have any hard feelings about this meal but it is not something that my family wants to try again.

Microwave Cooking Instructions
- Remove carton and plastic film.
- Place the microwave safe tray into the microwave,
- Microwave on high for 8 minutes until an internal temperature of 160F.
- Let cool for 2 minutes before serving.
Conventional Oven Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375F
- Remove carton and plastic film.
- Place the tray on a baking sheet and put in the oven.
- Bake for 20 minutes until an internal temperature of 160F.
- Let cool for 2 minutes before serving.
How Does Rana’s Beef and Short Rib Lasagna Taste?
The lasagna has nice layers of tender pasta with savory meat sauce and cheese. The ground beef and beef short rib are in different layers and provide a nice textural contrast.
The cheese on the surface was nicely browned and the cheese in the filling was not overpowering.
We found the lasagna to be satisfactory but not amazing. The biggest complaint is that the lasagna was a little saltier than we would like.
I give Rana credit for creating non-traditional lasagnas like this one and their Chicken Pesto Lasagna but I wished they would develop the product a little more before launching it at Costco.

- Garlic Bread
- Caesar Salad
Instructions
- Remove the outer packaging and plastic wrap
- Place the tray into the microwave and heat on High for 8 minutes.
- Let the lasagna cool for two minutes.
- Serve the lasagna with the garlic bread and salad.

The 42 ounce tray of Rana lasagna, Item Number 1624490, costs $15.99 at Costco.
You buy essentially the same lasagna, but without the short rib meat, at Target for a little bit less. There ae also better tasting lasagnas at Costco like the Italian Sausage and Beef Lasagna and the Take and Bake Ravioli Lasagna.
It really doesn’t look like this lasagna is a great value and we will not buy again.
